I am extremely disappointed with how FTMO handled my account after I received a warning about “one-sided betting”. On 22 June 2026, FTMO contacted me and said my activity was not categorised as genuine trading. They told me to reassess my strategy and follow a maximum 1% risk-per-trade idea across my accounts. A trader can follow the stated drawdown rules, adjust after a warning, keep losses under the risk guidance, use stop losses, and still be removed after requesting a payout. The issue is not only that my accounts were terminated. The issue is that the decision was made without clear evidence being provided to me.

After that warning, I changed my approach even further. On my USD 100,000 account, I traded US30.cash with stop loss and take profit levels, generally using one trade per trading day. The losing trades shown in my history were approximately USD 454 to USD 620, which is below the 1% risk level they mentioned. My winning trades were approximately USD 2,503 to USD 2,704 because the strategy used a higher reward-to-risk structure. This was not one oversized gamble or uncontrolled exposure. It was a structured approach with controlled downside. Despite this, when I requested my reward, FTMO sent another email saying my activity was still not “genuine trading” and that it constituted “one-sided betting”. They terminated my accounts and said they would cease cooperation with me. They also said they would still pay the reward on my active account and refund my other accounts as a goodwill gesture, but only if I acknowledged the notice. What frustrates me most is the lack of transparency. I asked for specific details more than once, but they never gave a clear trade-by-trade explanation. Instead, they relied on broad phrases such as “overall trading behaviour”, “risk exposure” and “reliance on one or a few trade ideas”. These explanations are too vague for such a serious decision, especially when a trader has already adjusted their strategy after receiving a warning.

FTMO is one of the largest prop trading firms. They are fair and refund the initial fee after successfully completing the challenge. In my opinion, FTMO is a very good choice for trading forex. I also tried trading indices there, but the downside is the higher spreads and overnight swap fees for holding positions. Overall, FTMO is an excellent company, but if someone mainly wants to trade indices, I would probably choose a different type of account or another prop firm.
