FTMO Review

FTMO handles millions of trades each month. In 2021 alone, it paid out $29 million to traders, with an average payout processing time of just 8 hours. Overall, the company has paid out over $130 million to traders worldwide.

Funding accounts range from $10,000 to $200,000, with up to 1:100 leverage and profit splits between 80–90%. Traders can hold up to $400,000 in combined accounts—and potentially scale that to $2 million over time.

Although FTMO’s focus is on Forex, it also supports trading in indices, commodities, and crypto. The evaluation process involves two stages: the FTMO Challenge and the Verification phase. Both assess your ability to generate profits while staying within defined risk limits.

FTMO also offers educational resources, trading journals, and a free trial version of its challenge—useful for those wanting to test the waters before committing. The starting fee is €155 for a $10,000 account.

FTMO’s Evaluation Model

FTMO’s evaluation comes in two flavors: Normal and Aggressive. In both, traders must complete a two-phase challenge with specific rules on profit targets and risk.

The Normal Plan Requires:

  • 10% profit in Phase 1
  • 5% profit in Phase 2
  • Max daily loss: 5%
  • Max overall loss: 10%
  • Minimum of 4 trading days per phase

Aggressive Accounts:

  • Higher flexibility in losses (up to 10% per day)
  • Higher profit targets (20% total)

All accounts include access to the scaling plan.

FTMO Trading Tools

FTMO offers several proprietary tools designed to help traders track and refine their performance:

  • Account MetriX: Tracks your challenge progress and stats
  • Account Analysis: Breakdown of your trades after completing a phase
  • Statistical App: Offers probability-based insights into market behavior
  • Trading Journal: Logs trades and lets you reflect on performance
  • Mentor App: Helps enforce personal trading rules and risk limits
  • Equity Simulator: Models potential outcomes based on trading style
  • Economic Calendar: Built-in tool to plan around key events

What Are the Advantages of Joining FTMO?

FTMO’s model depends on successful traders — it only makes money when you do. Key benefits include:

  • Low Refundable Fee: One of the lowest in the industry — and refunded if you pass
  • Track Record: Over $130 million paid out to traders
  • Profit Splits: Starts at 80%, rising to 90%
  • Diverse Markets: Trade forex, indices, stocks, commodities, bonds, and crypto
  • Trading Tech: Tools to manage risk and improve performance
  • Scaling Plan: Grow to $2 million in trading capital

Trading Instruments and Leverage

Traders can access a range of asset classes, including:

  • Forex pairs
  • Commodities
  • Indices
  • Stocks
  • Bonds
  • Cryptocurrencies

Leverage depends on account type:

  • Normal: Up to 1:100
  • Aggressive: Up to 1:30

This gives traders flexibility to match their trading style.

Pricing

FTMO offers five account sizes: $10K, $25K, $50K, $100K, and $200K. All but the $200K version are available in either Normal or Aggressive formats.

Fees range from €155 to €1,080, depending on the account size. Choosing the right option depends on your experience, strategy, and risk tolerance.

Trading Objectives

Your chosen risk level determines your limits:

Normal

  • Max daily loss: 5%
  • Max total loss: 10%
  • Profit target: 10% (Phase 1), 5% (Phase 2)

Aggressive

  • Max daily loss: 10%
  • Max total loss: 20%
  • Profit target: 20% total

More risk means more room to trade, but it also requires higher returns to qualify.

Customer Support

FTMO offers multilingual support through:

  • Email: support@ftmo.com
  • Live Chat: 24/7
  • Phone: +442 033 222 983 (Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm CEST)

Support is available in 13 languages, and traders can also book in-person visits to the Prague headquarters.

Summary

FTMO combines capital access, structured evaluations, and performance-enhancing tools in one of the strongest offerings in the prop trading space. The process is competitive, but for traders who are prepared, it can lead to scalable, long-term opportunity.

Whether you’re new to prop trading or looking to level up, FTMO is worth considering. Just make sure the rules and risk model align with how you trade.
